What is Short-Bowel Syndrome?

Short-Bowel Syndrome is a condition that occurs when a significant portion of the small intestine is missing or non-functional, making it difficult for the body to absorb essential nutrients, fluids, and electrolytes. It often results from surgical removal of a large section of the small intestine due to birth defects, disease, or injury.
